Samantha Pearce – Equine Art and Photography – Sydney, Australia bio picture
  • Welcome to my Equine Art and Photography blog!

I am an artist and photographer from Sydney, Australia. I am a professional Child and family photographer. I have also been passionately in love with horses all my life! I've painted portraits of Arabian Horses since I was in my early teenage years. After having some time out the last 12 yrs due to having four beautiful children, I'm slowly finding time for my art again.

Occasionally I will open my books to a limited number of commission paintings, you are welcome to enquire. I will also from time to time have original artwork for sale and also some limited edition fine art prints.

I also photograph Pets and Equine

My blog is where I show my latest work in both paintings and equine photography.

You can see more of my child and family work by clicking on this link - CHILDRENS PHOTOGRAPHY

I also have a Child and Family blog - CHILDREN & FAMILY BLOG

Two new works

A soft pastel, gouache and coloured pencil on paper.   I added a bit of background into this one.

and a sketch up of what will be my next oil painting.  Inspired by a photo of Afrikah taken by Jenni Ogden of Eagleridge Arabians in Australia.  Used with kind permission.

some photos of beautiful arabian horses

His name is The Source CC and he is a straight egyptian owned by Rhodium Arabians in New Zealand.    I was so very lucky to have the opportunity to take some photos of him while he was up for a recent show.   This was a dream shoot for me, two beautiful arabians stallions face to face in a field!  Still pinching myself.  The handlers Mathew Haddow and Hasan Rifat really let the boys play and show off, we all had a lot of fun.    The other stallion is Ashour Al Hasan owned by Hasan Rifat.

The second shoot was with another Arabian Stallion named Rokewood Riyadh, owned and bred by Rokewood Arabian Stud  in Victoria, Rod and Julie Hewat.

And Lastly!  Another shoot I did last week.   A beautiful Arabian mare this time, owned by Saba Arabians in NSW.

and we are finished!!

I have finished my first official Oil Painting!  woohoo!  and I love him!  So so happy with how he turned out, and I am hooked on oils!   They are tricky, time consuming, a bit messy and smelly, but wow!  they really make a painting come alive.   24×18 on natural linen canvas.

my desk tonight

a sneak update on my oil painting.   Finally sat down again with him this afternoon and tonight, but looking forward to working more solidly on him next week.    Starting to come together.   This is being painted on a natural linen canvas that has been primed with a clear gesso.   I love the natural, organic look to them.   They are made by Pebeo and I buy my art supplies from The Art Scene in Ryde, Sydney.    This one is 24×18 inches.
